Replaced the upper heater hose and HOOOO BOY that turned into a debacle.
Seriously. Fuck this thing. Fuck Mazda. Fuck this satanic locking hose clamp horse shit.
Look at that! How am I supposed to get any thing on there? I bought $80 of various locking pliers, special hose clamp pliers, etc. and the solution ended up being to fucking dremel that bitch off.
Turns out these little shits are actually GLUED to the rubber. So You can’t pinch them, slide them down the rubber out of the way and then work the hose off ooohhhh no. Not possible. I have no idea how the hell the dealership does this crap.
Bastard.

I bought one. Kept fouling on a heat shield. Once I finally got a somewhat tenuous grip on the clamp I discovered that these Mazda/Ford locking clamps don’t work with normal-ass hose clamp pliers.

What kind of circle of hell did those clips roll out of? Those look very odd indeed. Does Mazda have a special tool for those?

Ahh I have seen and struggled with those same clamps on my Miata before. I know the struggle! This is why I like the screw on clamps for this sole reason.
